World Cup: Romance Edition

ROUND UP

Soccer Romances Worthy of World Cup Hype

Romance novels to supplement the heat on the turf!

It’s that season of brackets, flags and drunkenly chanted songs! That’s right.. it’s time for the World Cup!

Although football (aka soccer) plays on our televisions for most of the year, every few years, the World Cup seemingly dominates our entire viewing schedule. Need to get some yardwork done? Don’t worry, the game broadcast is blasted through outdoor speakers. Falling asleep because you’ve had a long day watching games? Don’t fret, there’s a tv in the bedroom that can stream the game until your eyes shut.

And with the US serving as one of three host countries for this year’s tournament, the buzz is next level! There are fans taking over cities, players traveling around the country end posting the best tourist content… and I’m sure behind the scenes, there’s plenty of love going around.

Victoria Loves Soccer Romances

Soccer is arguably James’ favorite sport, but it’s not my favorite to read about. Now don’t get me wrong, I am always excited to come across a Leeds United fan in my MMCs (and trust me, this happens surprisingly often). But when it comes to sports the MCs play, for some reason, soccer isn’t high on my list of go-tos.

However, that hasn’t stopped me from pulling up a short list of great reads featuring the sport. Enjoy!

Favorite Scene

“I know I’ve given you reason to doubt me, Oliver, but I promise that’s behind us. I’m here. I’m yours… I promise it all —my body, my soul, my life, for you, everything for you, to care for you and love.

Soccer Romance Recommendations

  • PLAY ON THE SAME TEAM: Everything for You by Chloe Liese (Amazon)

In our Haus, when we say “football” this is what we mean (aka soccer). If you aren’t a fan of the sport but you have seen Ted Lasso and loved it, look no further. These two teammates couldn’t be more different. They are ice cold on the field, but their chemistry burns hotter than fire off-the field. Oh, and if you like this one, you’ll be glad to know this is #5 in the Bergman Brothers series.
